Episodes 58 & 59 : Guy of Warwick

He’s “just zis Guy, you know?” – Gag Halfrunt

This picture (Fredrick Taylor, 1845) gives a completely inaccurate impression of what this story will be about. I love it for that.

Guy of Warwick – “England’s other Arthur” and “England’s most successful medieval Romance,” according to Professor Alison Wiggins, who knows a thing or two about it.

This is my attempt to tell a version of what was, from the medieval period right up until the eighteenth century, one of England’s most beloved legends: now slid somewhat into obscurity (except in Warwick where it is very much well known!).

The first episode is the beginning (the beguyinning?) of the tale and features young lust, trivial class divisions, masculinity, Frenchmen, challenges to big dairy and exasperated emperor noises.
Amongst other things.

Episode two continues with violence, Dukes, some more violence, some more Dukes and all around a bit of a Bad Guy.

Further episodes will follow to complete the story!

I hope you enjoy it.

Spoiler free for unreleased episodes – I’ll add more as I finish the story

As discussed in episode 59 I took a trip to Warwick Castle, when it was out of season. Still got to see Guy’s Porridge Pot and sword, and leave some very important feedback.
